August 2006

Here we are in the month of September and as this weekend begins we begin to reflect on last year at this time. On Sept 11 we will celebrate our 1 year anniversary of meeting Alicia. It hardly seems possible that it has been that long, but she sure has changed a lot since then and brought so much joy to our lives.

Here is a picture taken on adoption day last year

Our most recent picture of her sharing with her doll. Wow what a difference.

It is so much fun to see her learn new things, especially when she surprises us with words! Of course with language skills, it is much easier to understand what she wants or needs. The doll was a birthday gift and she sure loves her! It is a cabbage patch doll and came with the name Myah. Myah has to do everything Alicia does, including sitting on the potty chair each morning. Her most recent 'love' is Spiderman cartoon. Greg has the old series (1960's?) on DVD and she asks to watch an episode each night.

I don't think I will ever forget one night Greg was busy upstairs working on something and didn't want Alicia around so we stayed down in the living room. Alicia went over to the stairs and got up one step before I noticed and I told her to come down. She immediately started crying as if I hurt her feelings terribly. My mind started racing, what could she be so upset about? She came over to me, put her hands in my lap, looked at me and said "Spiderman?". I explained when Daddy is done working, he will watch Spiderman with her. She actually understood and stopped crying!

Not much else to report, enjoy the photos.
