Southwest Vacation

This is a picture in Arizona near the Petrified Forest, but this part is something they call "The painted Desert". It covered a long distance from Western New Mexico into part of Arizona. We were headed toward Las Vegas.

Here are some photos in the Petrified Forest. It was very windy that day, we had sand blowing into our faces and at times it was difficult standing up.

This was in Las Vegas at the Coke Store.

This is a picture inside a hotel that had a bunch of shops inside. Their was a rainstorm over the pond.

We all spent to much money in the M&M store, but it was a lot of fun!

Just another shot outside another Hotel.

This hotel had a Volcano erupting, it was quite interesting.

This fountain was one of the best shows we saw in Las Vegas.

Here are a bunch of pictures of Hoover Dam. We didn't stop and get out or anything, all these pictures were taken as we were driving by. They are in the process of building a new bridge so that people can no longer drive on the Dam itself. They had security checking every vehicle before crossing.

Grand Canyon-------------------------------------------

Look carefully at this photo, it was snowing!

But the weather cleared up. We enjoyed a nice 2 or 3 mile walk along the South Rim.

This is a model of the Canyon.

This is Meteor Crator. It is amazing how big it is, pictures don't do it justice.

This is a model of Meteor Crator.

After we left Meteor Crator, we got caught in a sand storm. There was a lot of stopped traffic along I-40 due to accidents. We decided to get off and take a back road, thanks to a GPS system and a little luck we got by the accident after about 5 miles and got back on I-40 toward New Mexico.

Later that night it snowed enough to make the roads icey. We drove slow, but made back ok, just a little later than originally planned.

This restaurant is owned by the parents of actor Neil Patrick Harris, so we decided to go. The food was very good.

Alicia kept bugging me to take her "pretty picture", so here it is. We sure had a great time on Vacation!!
