Day 2--Beijing

Wow, what a whirlwind of a day. We started out at the Cloisonne Factory (photo of pretty vase). That was very interesting. They make them out of copper and add the decorations with curly shaped pieces of copper to the main base. Then they add the color to fill in the spaces. After that, it is fired for 3 minutes and finally polished. Then it was off to the Great Wall. Greg and I went up the steep part as far as we could go. It then stopped because the rest of the wall was not kept up and was just ruins and not safe to walk on. It was so amazing! There were many people selling things up on the wall such as photo books, t-shirts, old coins and such. We then ventured to the Friendship store and restaurant. We ate lunch and shopped. They had a lot of tourist type things for sale, more cloisonne, silk, jewelry. Next it was off to the Summer Palace. I will try and post more photos tomorrow, I am running late tonight and don't have time for all that I want to share. For dinner we ate at a restaurant that our guide said is a local favorite, they serve Roasted Peking Duck. MMMM Good!

Good night
