Traveling day

Today was a long day for the babies. We left the hotel at 8:30, caught a plane to Guangzhou at 10:30. It was an hour flight. This schedule managed to mess up our nap routine. Alicia had a very short morning nap on the bus to the Nanchang airport. While at the airport waiting for our guide to get the boarding passes, some Chinese people were smiling and looking at Alicia. I turned to them and took Alicia's hand and had her wave "Hi" to them. Then one of them put there arms out to hold her and she went to him. He teased her and said "bye mama". She cried out so loud and put her arms to me. He was sorry, and gave her back to me. I was so happy that she wanted to come back to me, it is a sign she is starting to bond to us.
Alicia was ok on the plane, except since she likes to walk so much she wasn't to happy about sitting in my lap that long. We had a nice gentleman in the seat next to us that I found out was from Taiwan and had a son at home who was 21 months old. He spoke Chinese to Alicia to comfort her and she seemed to understand him. He was a big help in keeping her calm and mind occupied away from wanting to walk. Alicia managed to fall asleep just as we were landing. I managed to carry a backpack and carry our sleeping beauty in my arms. She only got another half hour nap or so, instead of her normal 2 hours. We got to the hotel around 1 PM. We hadn't eaten lunch, but Alicia had so many crackers on the plane that she wasn't hungry. Greg and I ate some crackers I bought from the grocery store next to the hotel to tide us over until dinner. At 5 PM, our guide took us to get the baby's visa photos done and showed us around Shamian Island a little. We all cut the tour short because it was raining. Alicia managed to take another 20 minute nap just before we went for the photo and tour, she was so tired that her eyes just wouldn't stay open. At dinner, she was running a small fever. Our social worker thought maybe from her teething. We gave her some infant tylenol I brought along. It wasn't long before that kicked in and Alicia would eat. She managed to stay up late (9:10 PM). She was having so much fun walking from mommy to daddy and back again, that even though I could tell she was tired she wanted to keep walking.
Sunday is pretty much an open day for doing anything we want. We will go wandering around to see what shopping deals we can find. From the rumors I heard, we are in adoptive parents shopping paradise. So we shall see if that is true, maybe I can buy a bunch of clothes and shoes for our sweet Alicia.
